In a city of nine million people and fewer than 600 public tennis courts, it’s no wonder New York’s racket-toting masses often have to wait in line to play, only to get kicked off after an hour. The Wall Street Journal listed released this story about the upcoming court projects in the city and Harlem is getting two of the three upcoming renovations. The plan for the area is as follows, $700,000 to reconstruct four of eight popular hard courts at Frederick Johnson Park in Harlem (the other four were recently redone); and $400,000 for three decrepit hard courts and two basketball courts in Howard Bennett Playground, also in Harlem. We should have new courts ready for action by next spring! You can read the full story here.
